Proper equipment is essential for a smooth and enjoyable stay in the mountains. At the Jägerhof Hiking Hotel in South Tyrol, during a week-long stay, you’ll receive:
- professional snowshoes by TSL
- ski poles with large snow baskets
- a backpack
- warm herbal tea in a thermos, homemade muesli bars, and a small savory hiking snack.

Right outside our doorstep, numerous hiking trails begin, ranging from easy to challenging. The idyllic Waltner Circular Trail is perfect for a gentle start. For ambitious mountain lovers, we recommend the Jägersteig in the Wanser Valley or the impressive Border Tour over the Wanser Joch to the Sailer Joch. In winter, we also offer guided snowshoe hikes starting directly from the Jägerhof.
Upon your arrival, you will receive our Jägerhof information folder, which contains 12 detailed hiking tips for varying levels of difficulty.
Additionally, we offer a professional hiking map of the entire Passeier Valley for sale. For individual recommendations, our hosts Irmgard and Magdalena are always happy to share their personal insider tips with you.
In summer, we do not offer guided hikes. In winter, however, we organize guided snowshoe hikes, allowing you to safely explore the snow-covered mountains around the Jägerhof with an experienced guide.
The nearest ski area is the Ratschings–Jaufen Ski Resort. It is located directly at the Jaufen Pass and can be easily reached from the Jägerhof in just about 10 minutes by car.
In our region, you’ll find over 70 managed alpine huts and shelters. Opening times may vary depending on weather and snow conditions, but are generally from mid-May or early June to mid-October.
