You're travelling

Travelling from the north:

Coming from the north, you can easily reach us via the A22 motorway, which connects Munich to Sterzing via Innsbruck. Leave the motorway at the Sterzing exit and then follow the signs towards Jaufen Pass, Passeier Valley. After about 28 kilometres, you will reach the Jägerhof. Please note: During the winter months, the Jaufen Pass is closed between 6.00 pm and 8.00 am.


Travelling via the Timmelsjoch:

From Kempten, Reutte and the Ötztal, you can reach the Passeiertal via the Timmelsjoch. The panoramic road takes you over the Alps into South Tyrol and down into the Passeier Valley as far as St. Leonhard. From there, continue towards the Jaufen Pass / Walten. After about 10 kilometres, you will reach the Jägerhof. Please note: The Timmelsjoch is closed during the winter months. Closed: approx. late October to early/mid-June.


Directions from the Reschen Pass:

Coming from the Reschen Pass, drive through the Vinschgau Valley towards Merano. Follow the road into the Passeier Valley towards St. Leonhard. Then head towards the Jaufen Pass / Walten. After about 10 kilometres, you will reach the Jägerhof.

If you’re coming from the north, the best way to get here by train is via Innsbruck towards the Brenner Pass. Travel as far as Sterzing and get off there. From Sterzing, you can easily reach us by bus or taxi into the Passeier Valley, heading towards St. Leonhard / Walten, until you reach the Jägerhof.

With our included Guest Card, you no longer need to pay for the train journey from Brenner to Sterzing. From Sterzing, you can also use the Guest Card to travel by public bus over the Jaufen Pass during the summer months. Please contact us one day before arrival so that we can send you the Guest Card in good time. Alternatively, we’d be happy to arrange a taxi from Brenner or Sterzing directly to the Jägerhof.

If you’re travelling from the south, the best route is via Verona and Bolzano towards Merano. Travel as far as Merano and get off there. From Merano, you can reach us by taking the bus into the Passeier Valley towards St. Leonhard / Walten to the Jägerhof.

Once you arrive in Bolzano or Merano, you can use our complimentary Guestcard to travel to the Jägerhof free of charge by public transport. Please contact us one day before arrival so that we can send you the Guestcard in good time.

Alternatively, we are happy to arrange a taxi from Merano directly to the Jägerhof on request.

Meraner-Land-Express (from Munich to Walten):

Every Wednesday and Sunday from March to early November, the coach service runs directly from Munich to Walten in the Passeier Valley and back again. The cost is from €105 for a return journey. Children under 6 travel free of charge; children aged 6 to 14 receive a 50% discount.


Südtirol Express (from Switzerland to Merano):

Every Saturday, comfortable coaches run from St. Gallen, Winterthur and Zurich to the coach park at Merano Central Station and back. The cost is from CHF 190 for a return journey; a single journey is available from CHF 130. Once you arrive in Merano, you can use our included Guest Card to travel free of charge by public transport to the Jägerhof. Alternatively, we are happy to arrange a taxi from Merano directly to the Jägerhof on request.


Long-distance coaches:

You can reach Merano easily by long-distance coach from Germany and across Europe.

The nearest airports are:

Innsbruck Airport: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours’ drive away.
Verona Airport: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours’ drive away.
Bolzano Airport: approximately 1.5 hours’ drive away.

We’d be happy to arrange a taxi for you from the airport to the Jägerhof.

Location & How to get there

Right by the Jaufen Pass. Surrounded by mountains and easily accessible all year round.

Surrounded by mountains, meadows and forests, the Jägerhof is situated on a sunny south-facing slope in Walten. The Jaufen Pass provides an ideal link to the Passeier Valley as well as towards Merano and Sterzing. It is also the perfect starting point for excursions in all directions. Even in winter, the road is well maintained, so getting here is usually no problem.
